Before You Sign
Strength and conditioning software your coaches run the floor on, with an athlete and parent app that creates new revenue for your facility.
Strength and conditioning software
Before you sign, get the answers in writing. One line each. The cheapest sticker price is not the bill if "active" means every name you have ever entered, if the tier never steps down, or if booking takes a percentage you did not model.
These are the questions I would ask any vendor, including us. Short answers for L4 live on the linked pages. Confirm current L4 prices on l4performance.ca/l4. Figures mentioned on these pages are CAD plus applicable tax.
L4 is built for youth athletes training in a facility, plus a parent portal. It is not a program marketplace for athletes who never enter the building. It is not lab-grade force-plate hardware. Ask every question below with that scope in mind if you are a youth training gym.
Ask whether a coach can connect Claude or ChatGPT. On L4, a coach can. See AI strength and conditioning software that connects to Claude and ChatGPT.
Questions About the Facility Bill
What counts as an active athlete? On L4: a training session in the last 90 days, or a current program assignment. Archive someone and they stop counting the same day. They count again later if they train or get a program assignment. What counts as an active athlete?
Does the software bill drop when the roster shrinks? On L4: yes. Tiers move in both directions automatically. If the active count falls into a lower rung, the next invoice drops. No mid-cycle proration. Does the software bill drop when the roster shrinks?
Who pays: the facility, the athlete, or the parent? Three money flows. Facility pays vendor. Athlete pays vendor. Parent pays and the facility gets a share. L4 uses the first (subscription and booking add-on) and the third (Premium and home programs). Not the second. Who pays for gym software?
Facility rungs, for the record: free under 25 active athletes, $99.99 per month up to 500, $139.99 for 501 to 1,000, $199.99 for 1,001 to 2,000.
If you already know your roster size and how many athletes trained in the last 90 days, use the gym software pricing calculator to see the L4 estimate next to those numbers.
Questions About Booking
Is booking included, or an add-on? On L4: optional add-on, $100 CAD per month. Is booking included, or an add-on?
Does the platform take a percentage of booking revenue? On L4: no. Booking payments go to the facility's own payment account. Does the platform take a booking cut?
Ask both. Included-or-not and cut-or-not are different answers.
Questions About Parents
What can a parent see without paying? On L4, the free base is profile, wellness-style tracking, goals, personal records, base player card, workout viewing, and messaging the coach.
Premium is $9.99 CAD per month per athlete (ranking and season-summary style reporting). A home program is a one-time purchase per four-week block, facility-configurable, commonly $79.99 to $99.99. Parent-paid products use a Stripe Connect split. The facility receives the majority by default (70 facility / 30 platform), unless a tenant has a negotiated override. What can a parent see without paying?
Questions About Your Data If You Leave
Ask any vendor what you can export, in what format, and what happens to the data if you leave. Get the answer in writing.
I am not describing L4's export behavior here. This is a question to ask every tool on your list, including ours.
